Tuesday Musing: The Art of Tea Time Rituals
Yesterday was a holiday, and today feels like a soft landing back into rhythm. So instead of a Monday Musing, I’m sharing a little Tuesday reflection — a moment to pause, breathe, and reconnect.
Lately, I’ve been rediscovering the beauty of tea time. Not just the act of sipping tea, but the ritual that can surround it. With my children, we’ve started exploring the world of tea — learning about its origins, its flavours, and even creating our own poetry tea times, where we read poems or stories together while the tea steeps.
Sometimes, the choice of tea is conscious — a little body check-in to see what’s needed in that moment. Other times, it’s more intuitive, guided by mood or the weather. Like today, when the warmth of the sun called for a refreshing peppermint tea with fresh leaves from the garden and a squeeze of lemon.
While the tea infuses, there’s space for a few quiet minutes — maybe slow breathing, a mantra, or a gentle stretch. And when the cup is ready, that’s when the magic begins.
You might:
Give gratitude for the moment.
Set an intention for the day.
Pull an oracle card.
Write a few lines in your journal.
Read a poem or a page from a book that inspires you.
These are just ideas, gentle invitations to make tea time your own.
Tea time becomes a bridge between the outer world and your inner world, between doing and being. It’s a reminder that sacredness doesn’t need to be grand or complicated. Sometimes, it’s simply found in a warm cup held with both hands.
