On Different Kinds of Beauty
Monday Musings:
On Different Kinds of Beauty
There are places that bring peace in very different ways.
A Japanese garden, kept neat and tidy, can feel like a place where the mind easily finds peace and quiet. The decorative elements are chosen carefully to create harmony, and everything seems to have its place.
It is a man-made place, where order, beauty, and stillness are tangible. When I am in such a place, it feels soothing, as if I can put down my sorrows for a little while and simply sit, breathe, and contemplate.
And then there is nature.
A wild corner, where roses are growing freely beneath a tiny abandoned stone house. This too is beauty, for me. Here I also want to sit down, to admire the roses, to tell them how beautiful they are, and to rest in the quiet presence of nature. But this quiet is different — it is vibrant, alive, and full of movement.
Here I feel elemental energy, fairies, and angels.
The energy here is raw and beautiful, and it feels like a balm for my soul. Here I find a direct connection with Source, with God.
Both places offer peace, but not in the same way.
One through harmony, order, and stillness.
The other through wild beauty, aliveness, and the living presence of nature.
And somehow, both speak to the soul.
And maybe this is why both places speak to me so deeply.
One carries the peace of harmony, order, and quiet structure.
The other the peace of wild beauty, aliveness, and living presence.
Like the Divine Masculine and the Divine Feminine, each holds its own kind of beauty — and both can bring us back to the soul.
Which kind of beauty speaks to your soul today — the harmony of order or the aliveness of the wild? 🌿
